Maryn McKenna is an independent journalist specializing in domestic and global public health, health policy and medicine. She is a contributing writer at the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy of the University of Minnesota and has just completed a term as a Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Media Fellow.

Ms. McKenna has won numerous journalism awards and is the author of Beating Back the Devil: On the Front Lines with the Disease Detectives of the Epidemic Intelligence Service  (Free Press). Her second book, Superbug: The Death and Life of Drug-Resistant Staph and the Danger of a World without Antibiotics, will be published by Free Press in 2009.
